Copy-paste prompts for AI app builders like Lovable, Base44, Bolt.new and Softr. Every prompt on this page carries one of two labels:

  • Tested Oct 29, 2026 We pasted this exact text, word for word, into the tools named and logged what happened: minutes, fix messages and credits used. The results are in our reviews.
  • Not yet tested A new prompt we wrote using what we learned from the tested ones. We haven’t run it yet, so we can’t tell you what it builds. When we test one, we’ll move it up and add the results.

Pack 1: Our three tested prompts

These are the standard prompts we paste into every tool we review (see how we test). On Oct 29, 2026 we ran all three in Lovable (Pro), Base44 (Builder), Bolt.new (Free) and Softr (Basic), with fake data and nothing published. Times are minutes from sending the prompt to “all listed features working.”

1. Client intake portal (accounting firm) Tested Oct 29, 2026

What it builds: a login-protected portal where clients fill in an intake form and upload documents, plus an admin table where the firm changes each submission’s status. It tests sign-up, a database, file uploads and who can see what.

Build a client intake portal for a small accounting firm. Clients can sign up and log in with email and password. After logging in, a client fills out an intake form (full name, business name, entity type dropdown: Sole proprietor / LLC / S corp / C corp / Partnership, tax year, a notes field) and uploads up to 3 documents (PDF or image). Clients can see their own past submissions and their status. A separate admin view lists all submissions in a table with a status dropdown (New, In review, Complete) that the admin can change. Clean, professional design that works on mobile.
Tool (plan) What happened with this exact prompt
Base44 (Builder) Working in about 4.5 minutes with 0 fix messages. A second, non-admin client saw only its own submission.
Lovable (Pro) Working in about 9 minutes after 1 fix message (there was no way to become the first admin). The separate-client check passed.
Bolt.new (Free) Working in about 9 minutes after 1 fix message (login stuck because of a database security-rule error). We set the admin role by hand in the Database tab. Separate-client check not run.
Softr (Basic) Not working: the intake form wasn’t reachable for clients in preview, uploads couldn’t be tested, and a test client could see every submission.

2. Invoice tracker (freelancer) Tested Oct 29, 2026

What it builds: a one-person invoicing app with clients, invoices with line items and automatic totals, an automatic Overdue status and a dashboard of outstanding, paid and overdue amounts.

Build an invoice tracker for a freelancer. I can add clients (name, email) and create invoices with an invoice number, client, issue date, due date, line items (description, quantity, rate), and an automatic total. Each invoice has a status: Draft, Sent, Paid, Overdue (Overdue is automatic when the due date has passed and it isn't paid). A dashboard shows total outstanding, total paid this month, and a list of overdue invoices. Data must be saved so it's still there after a page refresh. Works on mobile.
Tool (plan) What happened with this exact prompt
Lovable (Pro) Working in about 4 minutes with 0 fix messages, but the data was saved in the browser only, not in a database.
Base44 (Builder) Working in about 12.5 minutes. It paused once to ask for approval and needed a “continue” message. Real database. Overdue only applied to invoices marked Sent.
Bolt.new (Free) Working in about 9 minutes with 0 fix messages, on a real database.
Softr (Basic) Not working in preview: no Overdue status and no way to add line items in the app, after 4 follow-up messages.

3. Landing page with pricing and a contact form (bookkeeping service) Tested Oct 29, 2026

What it builds: a one-page marketing site with a hero, features, a three-tier pricing table, testimonials marked as samples, an FAQ and a contact form that saves what visitors send.

Build a one-page marketing landing page for a fictional bookkeeping service called "LedgerLight" for small businesses. Include a hero with headline and call-to-action button, three feature blocks, a three-tier pricing table ($49, $99, $199 per month), three testimonials clearly labeled as sample placeholders, an FAQ with five questions, and a contact form that saves submissions. Fast, modern, mobile-friendly.
Tool (plan) What happened with this exact prompt
Lovable (Pro) Working in about 3 minutes, 0 fix messages, 1.5 credits. The contact form saved to a database table.
Base44 (Builder) Working in about 5 minutes, 0 fix messages. The contact form saved to a database table.
Bolt.new (Free) Working in about 2–3 minutes, 0 fix messages, about 15K tokens. It added a made-up “Trusted by 500+ small businesses” badge, and one stray “\u2019” showed in the copy instead of an apostrophe.
Softr (Basic) Built in about 4 minutes, 0 fix messages, but the pricing toggle defaulted to “Yearly” with prices we never asked for, and it added a made-up “Trusted by 1,000+” badge.

Run these free in Bolt → Try them in Lovable → Try them in Base44 →

Bolt’s free plan ran all three prompts in one day, but used its whole 300K daily token allowance doing it. See Bolt tokens and the daily limit.

How the landing-page prompt did in four builders: vibe coding for marketers.

Pack 2: Prompts for accountants and bookkeepers

Two of our tested prompts are accounting jobs already: the client intake portal and the bookkeeping landing page. The three below are new and untested. They spell out the things our tested runs showed you need to say up front: who the first admin is, that data goes in a real database, and that the tool shouldn’t fill in numbers you didn’t give it. For results on the tested ones, read vibe coding for accountants.

Document request checklist Not yet tested

What it’s meant to build: a per-client checklist of documents the firm needs for a tax year, where clients upload against each item and staff accept them.

Build a document request portal for a small accounting firm. Staff can add a client (name, email) and create a checklist of requested documents for a tax year, each with a name and a due date. Clients sign up and log in with email and password, see only their own checklist, and upload a PDF or image against each item. Each item shows a status: Requested, Uploaded or Accepted. Only staff can mark an item Accepted. The first account that signs up is the firm admin; every account after that is a client. Save everything in a real database, not in the browser. Clean, professional design that works on mobile.

Engagement letter drafter Not yet tested

What it’s meant to build: an internal form that fills client details into a letter template staff can edit and print. It’s a drafting aid only. The wording of any engagement letter is the firm’s responsibility.

Build an internal tool for a small accounting firm to draft engagement letters. Staff log in with email and password. The first account that signs up is the admin, and new accounts can't see anything until the admin approves them. A form collects client name, entity type (dropdown: Sole proprietor / LLC / S corp / C corp / Partnership), tax year, services (checkboxes: individual return, business return, bookkeeping, payroll, advisory), fee amount and fee type (fixed or hourly). The app fills these details into a letter template that staff can edit before printing or saving as PDF. Show a visible note on every draft: "Template wording must be reviewed by the firm before use." Saved letters are listed with client name, date and a status (Draft, Sent, Signed) that staff change by hand. Save data in a real database. Works on mobile.

Client deadline tracker Not yet tested

What it’s meant to build: a staff dashboard of client deadlines, with what’s due in the next two weeks and what’s overdue. The prompt deliberately tells the tool not to pre-fill any official due dates, so every date comes from you.

Build a deadline tracker for a small accounting firm. Staff log in with email and password. The first account that signs up is the admin, and new accounts can't see anything until the admin approves them. Staff add clients (name, entity type, email) and deadlines for each client (deadline type from a list I can edit, due date, assigned staff member, status: Not started / In progress / Filed). A dashboard shows deadlines due in the next 14 days, overdue deadlines (due date has passed and status is not Filed), and a count by status. Do not pre-fill any official due dates or tax rules; staff enter every date themselves. Save everything in a real database. Works on mobile.

Pack 3: Prompts for freelancers

Our tested invoice tracker prompt was written for a freelancer, and it worked in three of four tools. The three below are new and untested.

Client onboarding form with a lead table Not yet tested

What it’s meant to build: a public project-inquiry form, plus a private table where you track each lead from New to Won or Lost.

Build a client onboarding form for a freelance designer. A public form collects name, email, company, project type (dropdown: Logo, Website, Branding, Other), budget range (a dropdown I can edit), deadline and a project description, and saves each submission to a real database. Show a thank-you message after submitting. I log in with email and password to see all submissions in a table, set each one to New, Contacted, Won or Lost, and add private notes. Visitors can never see other people's submissions. Works on mobile.

Project and time tracker Not yet tested

What it’s meant to build: a one-person time log with hourly rates per project, a weekly summary and a CSV export of unbilled time for invoicing.

Build a time tracker for a freelancer. I can add clients and projects (name, client, hourly rate), start and stop a timer on a project or add a time entry by hand (date, hours, note), and see a weekly summary of hours and amount earned per client (hours × rate). Each entry is Billed or Unbilled, and I can export one client's unbilled entries as a CSV file. Save data in a real database so it's still there after a refresh and on another device. Single user with email and password login. Works on mobile.

One-page portfolio with an inquiry form Not yet tested

What it’s meant to build: a freelancer’s portfolio page. It’s our tested landing-page prompt adapted for portfolios, with an extra line against invented claims, because Bolt and Softr both added made-up “Trusted by” badges to our landing page.

Build a one-page portfolio site for a fictional freelance copywriter called "Inkwell Studio". Include a hero with a headline and a "Start a project" button, a services section with three services, a grid of six sample projects clearly labeled as sample placeholders, two testimonials clearly labeled as sample placeholders, and an inquiry form (name, email, budget, message) that saves submissions. Do not invent statistics, client logos, awards or prices. Fast, modern, mobile-friendly.

Fix messages we actually sent (and what they did)

Follow-up messages cost credits or tokens too, so here are the ones from our Oct 29, 2026 runs that we logged word for word, with what happened. We’ve swapped our test email address for a placeholder.

“Make me the admin” (Lovable, client intake portal) Tested Oct 29, 2026

The /admin page says Admins only and I have no way to become an admin. Please make the account [your email] an admin (add it to the admin role) and add a link to the admin view in the nav for admins, so I can test changing submission statuses.

Result: worked in one message. Lovable made the account an admin, and the admin table and status changes then worked. It was the only fix this build needed.

“Make it work on my current plan” (Softr, client intake portal) Tested Oct 29, 2026

Sign-in is set to email one-time code, which my plan doesn't allow, and the Admin and Client user groups are deactivated. Please switch to email and password sign-in, and make the admin view and each client's own submissions work on my current plan.

Result: only partly fixed. Sign-in switched to email and password. The user groups stayed deactivated after a reload, even though the AI said it had reactivated them. Check the setting yourself rather than trusting the chat reply.

A long multi-part fix (Softr, invoice tracker) Tested Oct 29, 2026

After your last reply I still can't add line items in the app preview: the invoice details page shows no Add line item button and no Edit invoice button, and the sidebar still only has Home. Also the Overdue column on the Invoices board is empty and the Mark Overdue Invoices workflow shows an error on its Find overdue invoices step. Please fix these so I can add line items, edit invoices, see Clients and Invoices links in the navigation, and have overdue invoices detected.

Result: Softr replied: “The request took too long to reason about and I couldn’t retrieve the response. Please try breaking it down into smaller change requests.” Lesson: send one problem per message.

“continue” (Base44, invoice tracker) Tested Oct 29, 2026

Base44 stopped at a “processing checkpoint” to ask whether it could delete a test record it had created. Replying continue let it finish. It wasn’t a bug fix, but it is a message you may need to send.

Bolt’s one fix (a login stuck because of a database security-rule error) was described in our own words and the exact text wasn’t logged, so it isn’t listed here. That single fix used about 84K tokens, close to half of the portal build. Details are in our Bolt review.

If a fix message fails, see what to try when a fix does not work, including when to roll back instead.

Tips from our logs

Each tip comes from something that happened in our Oct 29, 2026 runs:

  • Say who the first admin is. Lovable built an admin page nobody could open, and Bolt had no way to make an admin either. Adding a line like “the first account that signs up is the admin” should help, though we haven’t tested that line yet.
  • Ask for a real database. Lovable saved our invoice tracker in the browser only, so the data wouldn’t follow you to another device. “Save everything in a real database, not in the browser” says exactly what you want.
  • Ban invented numbers. Softr added yearly prices we never gave it and a “Trusted by 1,000+” badge, and Bolt added a “Trusted by 500+” badge. Name your exact prices and add “do not invent statistics or prices.”
  • One problem per fix message. Softr gave up on our longest fix request. On Bolt, every message also costs more as the project grows, so a clear fix that works the first time saves tokens.
  • Use fake data first. Every app here ran on test accounts in an unpublished preview. Check access with a second, non-admin account before any real client data goes in.

Running out of credits partway through? See Lovable “exceeded quota” and out-of-credits fixes or Bolt tokens and the daily limit.

Frequently asked questions

Which of these prompts have you actually tested?

Only the three standard prompts in Pack 1 and the fix messages marked Tested. We ran them word for word on Oct 29, 2026 in Lovable (Pro), Base44 (Builder), Bolt.new (Free) and Softr (Basic). Every prompt marked Not yet tested is new, and we can’t yet say what it builds.

Do these prompts work on free plans?

Bolt’s free plan ran all three tested prompts in one day, but used its whole 300K daily token allowance. Lovable’s free plan gives 5 build credits a day, and Lovable’s usage page put our client portal at about 6 credits, so a build that size may not fit in one free day. We ran Lovable, Base44 and Softr on paid plans.

Can I paste the same prompt into any AI app builder?

Yes, that’s how we test. The results differ a lot, though. The same intake-portal prompt was working in about 4.5 minutes in Base44 with no fixes, needed one fix in Lovable and Bolt, and didn’t produce a working portal on Softr’s Basic plan.

Are these prompts safe to use with real client data?

Not as they stand. We only ran them with fake data in unpublished previews. Before real data goes in, publish privately, test with a separate non-admin account, and run the tool’s security check where it has one (we didn’t find one in Bolt).
