Our verdict
| Cheapest way in | Free: 5 build credits a day, up to 30 a month, $0 |
| Cheapest paid plan | Pro, 100 credits: $25/month billed monthly, or $250/year ($21/month) billed annually |
| What we paid | Pro, 100 credits, $25/month billed monthly (plus tax) |
| What our 3 test apps used | 5.5 credits from the balance (about $1.40 of the $25), plus that day’s 5 free build credits |
| Business plan | From $50/month for 100 credits: double Pro, for SSO and team controls |
| Watch out for | One credit balance also pays for hosting and AI features in your live app, and credits expire |
| Our Lovable score | 8.4/10 from our Oct 29, 2026 test (full Lovable review) |
Short answer (as of Oct 29, 2026): Lovable is free to start. The first paid plan, Pro, costs $25 a month for 100 credits on monthly billing, or $21 a month if you pay $250 for the year. On Pro, we built all three of our standard test apps (a client intake portal, an invoice tracker and a landing page) using 5.5 credits from our balance. So for small projects, 100 credits goes a long way. The cost gets harder to predict once an app is live, because hosting and in-app AI draw from the same credits.
Lovable plans and prices (as of Oct 29, 2026)
Lovable has a Free plan and three paid plans: Pro, Business and Enterprise. Pro and Business come in credit tiers from 100 to 10,000 credits a month. You can pay monthly or annually, and annual billing gives you two months free. Lovable doesn’t charge per seat: every plan allows unlimited workspace members, who share the workspace’s credits.

| Free | $0 | 5 daily build credits, up to 30 a month, plus small monthly grants for hosting (Cloud) and in-app AI |

Prices in USD, as of Oct 29, 2026. All 11 Pro tiers, monthly and annual, and the 100-credit Business tier were read from the plan cards on https://lovable.dev/pricing that day. Business tiers above 100 credits are from Lovable’s plan documentation, which matched the plan cards everywhere we could compare: https://docs.lovable.dev/introduction/subscription-plans. Credit rules and the Business pricing note are from https://lovable.dev/pricing, read the same day. Prices change; check https://lovable.dev/pricing before you buy.
What a credit costs in dollars. On the 100-credit Pro tier, $25 buys 100 credits, or $0.25 each. Lovable’s own docs use $0.25 per credit for Pro and $0.50 per credit for Business when converting old balances. Bigger Pro tiers are slightly cheaper per credit: 10,000 credits for $2,250 works out to $0.225 each. Source: https://docs.lovable.dev/introduction/credits-and-usage

Free vs Pro vs Business: what changes
Free lets you build with 5 daily build credits, capped at 30 a month. Lovable’s own example: on Free you get daily credits for the first 6 days of each month (6 × 5 = 30), then none until the 1st. Free also includes unlimited workspace members, workspace-private projects, Git sync with GitHub, GitLab and Bitbucket, and publishing to invited people only (up to 10 per project). It doesn’t let you edit or download code, use a custom domain, or remove the “Edit with Lovable” badge.
Pro adds a monthly credit balance on top of the 5 daily build credits (with no monthly cap on the daily ones), plus code editing and download, custom domains, design systems, user roles and permissions, credit rollovers, top-ups, usage limits and alerts, and email support.
Business adds SSO, role-based access, a security center and security insights, a data processing agreement, workspace data excluded from AI model training by default (on Free and Pro you opt out per account), the Lovable API, preview link passwords and priority support.
Source for all three: https://docs.lovable.dev/introduction/subscription-plans
Why Business costs double. At the 100-credit tier, Business is $50 against Pro’s $25. Lovable says the higher price pays for the extra team and governance features, and that hosting and in-app AI cost the same dollar amount on both plans. Because each Business credit is worth more, the same hosting bill takes fewer Business credits. Source: https://lovable.dev/pricing
Which one a beginner needs: start on Free to see whether Lovable suits you. Move to Pro when you want to download your code, connect your own domain, or build more than 5 credits’ worth in a day. Business only makes sense if a firm needs SSO or a signed data processing agreement.
| Free | Pro (100 credits) | Business (100 credits) | |

How Lovable credits work, in plain words
One balance, several uses. Lovable uses a single credit balance for building (messages to Lovable), chatting with Lovable, running your app’s hosting and database (Cloud), and AI features inside your live app. Small “grants” are used up first: daily build credits, a daily chat allowance, and monthly grants of 20 Cloud credits, 4 AI credits and 1 connector credit. After that, everything draws on your general credits. Source: https://docs.lovable.dev/introduction/credits-and-usage
What a build message costs. In Plan mode, each message costs 1 credit (plus any research Lovable runs while planning). In Build mode, the cost depends on how big the request is. Lovable’s illustrative examples:
| Lovable’s example prompt | Credits |
|---|---|
| “Make the button gray” | 0.50 |
| “Remove the footer” | 0.90 |
| “Add authentication” | 1.20 |
| “Build a landing page with images” | 1.70 on the pricing page, 2.00 in the docs |
Sources: https://lovable.dev/pricing and https://docs.lovable.dev/introduction/credits-and-usage, Oct 29, 2026. Lovable says these are examples and real costs vary by project.
Chat messages. Messages in Chat mode are priced per message, usually a fraction of a credit, and a daily chat allowance covers them first. Lovable says this chat pricing is temporary and applies through October 31, 2026, so check the docs after that date. We didn’t test Chat mode.
Reset times: daily credits, the Free cap and member limits
Daily build credits (5 a day) and the daily chat allowance reset every day at 00:00 UTC (afternoon or evening of the day before in US time zones), and they don’t roll over. On Free, once you’ve had 30 daily credits in a calendar month, they stop until the 1st of the next month at 00:00 UTC. Pro and Business have no monthly cap on daily credits. Monthly plan credits arrive each month on your plan and follow the expiry rules below. Member credit limits, if an owner sets them, reset on the 1st of each month at 00:00 UTC. Sources: https://docs.lovable.dev/introduction/subscription-plans and https://docs.lovable.dev/introduction/credits-and-usage
Regional plans. Lovable’s pricing FAQ says paid subscriptions include 5 daily build credits, but “some regional plans cap these at 30 per month.” We only saw US dollar prices, so we can’t list regional prices. Source: https://lovable.dev/pricing
Credits expire. On monthly plans, unused plan credits roll over while you stay subscribed (the Pro plan card says they “roll over for 1 month”), but each batch still expires 2 months after it’s issued. On annual plans they expire 1 month after the annual period ends. Top-up credits last 12 months. Daily build credits expire at the end of each day. Credits aren’t refundable. Source: https://lovable.dev/pricing
Long jobs pause to ask. When a single Build mode message passes 20 credits (the default), Lovable pauses and asks whether to continue. It’s a reminder, not a hard cap.
When you run out. Building stops, AI features in your live apps stop, and apps that use Lovable’s built-in backend pause until you add credits. On Pro and Business you can buy one-time top-ups or turn on auto top-up. Source: https://docs.lovable.dev/introduction/credits-and-usage
If you cancel. You keep your credits until the end of the billing period, then the workspace moves to Free. Unused paid credits come back if you resubscribe before they expire. Source: https://lovable.dev/pricing
What 100 credits actually built: our credit log
Tested Oct 29, 2026 on Lovable Pro (100 credits/month), bought at $25/month on monthly billing. We pasted our three standard prompts word for word (how we test) and used only fake data and test accounts. Nothing was published.
| What we did | Credits from the balance | Balance |
|---|---|---|
| Start of testing | 105 | |
| Build 1: client intake portal (1 fix message) | 1, plus the day’s 5 free build credits | 104 |
| Build 2: invoice tracker | 3 | 101 |
| Build 3: LedgerLight landing page | 1.5 | 99.5 |
| Three standard builds, total | 5.5 | 99.5 |
| Follow-up: Plan mode message (planning a CSV export) | 1 | |
| Follow-up: building the CSV export | 1.5 | 97 |
| Everything we did, total | 8 | 97 |
In dollars: at Pro’s $0.25 per credit, the 5.5 credits for three working apps are worth about $1.40, and all 8 credits about $2.00. That’s a small share of a $25 month, but our apps were small, unpublished test builds. A bigger app, more change requests, or a live app with real visitors will use more.
Why two numbers don’t match. Lovable’s usage page showed 6, 2.70 and 1.5 credits for the three projects, about 10.2 in total, against 5.5 taken from the balance. The usage page apparently also counts the 5 free daily build credits, though that only partly fits the per-app figures. Our test log doesn’t record the cause of the difference, so we use the balance figures on this page. Our balance also read 105 rather than 100 at the start; we don’t know why, so we report the numbers as we saw them.
Hosting cost: not measured. We didn’t publish any of the apps, so we can’t tell you what Cloud hosting cost in credits. Lovable says most small or new apps are covered by the monthly Cloud grant, and only apps with significant traffic or size start using the main balance. Source: https://lovable.dev/pricing

What the credits got us
- Client intake portal (about 9 minutes): sign-up and login, an intake form with file upload, each client’s own submissions, and an admin table with a status dropdown. It needed 1 fix message, because there was no built-in way to make the first admin.
- Invoice tracker (about 4 minutes): clients, invoices with line items and automatic totals, Paid and automatic Overdue statuses, and dashboard totals. The catch: the invoices were saved in the browser only, not a database, until asked. Ask for a database up front for anything that stores business records. Adding one would cost more credits; we didn’t measure how many.
- Landing page (about 3 minutes): hero, features, a three-tier price table, sample testimonials, a five-question FAQ and a contact form saved to a database table.

Full build-by-build results are in our Lovable review.
Lovable student and teacher discount
Students and teachers at universities, colleges and schools get 50% off Pro with 100 credits, billed monthly, for up to 12 months. That’s half of the $25 monthly price. The pricing page words it as “up to 50% off Lovable Pro.” We didn’t test the discount; these are Lovable’s rules:
- You verify on lovable.dev/students, and your workspace must be on the Free plan when you do.
- Lovable checks the domain of the email address on your account against a list of academic institutions, so the account must use your school email.
- It covers only Pro with 100 credits, billed monthly. Higher tiers, annual billing and other plans aren’t eligible, and top-ups cost the standard price.
- Each person can use it once, and Lovable doesn’t offer it again after you cancel.

Is the free plan enough?
For trying Lovable, yes. For finishing an app, probably not. We didn’t test the Free plan, so this is from Lovable’s documentation only. Free gives 30 build credits a month at most. Our three small test apps took 5.5 credits from the Pro balance plus 5 daily credits, so on paper they’d fit inside a month of Free. In practice two limits matter more than the credits: you can’t download or edit the code, and you can’t use your own domain. Daily credits also expire every night, so you can’t save them for a bigger session. For what fits on the free plans of Lovable, Bolt and Base44, see how to build an app with AI for free.
Is Lovable Pro worth it? Our verdict
Short answer: Lovable Pro is worth $25 a month if you want to own and download your code or use your own domain, and our small test apps barely dented the 100 credits. If you’re only exploring, start on Free. Based on our Oct 29, 2026 test on Pro and Lovable’s plan documentation.
Worth paying for Pro if:
- You want to edit or download your code, use a custom domain or remove the “Edit with Lovable” badge. Free can’t do any of these.
- You build more than 5 credits’ worth in a day. Our three standard apps used 5.5 credits from the balance, about 5.5% of a 100-credit month, plus that day’s 5 free credits.
- You’re a student or teacher who qualifies for the 50% discount above.
Not worth it yet if:
- You’re only trying ideas. Free gives up to 30 build credits a month, and on paper our three test apps would have fit (we didn’t test Free).
- You need SSO or a data processing agreement. That’s Business, from $50 a month, which we haven’t tested.
- You need a fixed, predictable bill for a live app. Hosting and in-app AI draw from the same credits, and we didn’t measure hosting costs.
For how Lovable did on the build itself, see our Lovable review (8.4/10).
How to keep your Lovable bill down
- Plan first. A Plan mode message costs 1 credit and changes no code, so it’s a cheap way to check Lovable’s approach before a bigger Build request. We didn’t compare the same feature with and without planning, so we can’t say how much it saves.
- Ask for a database at the start if your app stores records. Our invoice tracker didn’t get one by default.
- Batch small changes into one clear message rather than many tiny ones.
- Use the free daily credits first. The 5 daily build credits are spent before your monthly balance, and they expire at 00:00 UTC whether you use them or not. Source: https://docs.lovable.dev/introduction/credits-and-usage
- Set limits. On paid plans, owners can set monthly credit limits per member or project and get alerts. Source: https://docs.lovable.dev/introduction/credits-and-usage
- Students and teachers get 50% off Pro (100 credits, billed monthly) for up to 12 months after verifying an academic email (see the discount rules). Source: https://docs.lovable.dev/introduction/subscription-plans

Lovable vs Bolt pricing: both entry paid plans cost $25 a month billed monthly. Billed annually, Bolt Pro is $18 a month and Lovable Pro $21 (both read on each pricing page on Oct 29, 2026). Bolt charges $30 per member a month for Teams; Lovable doesn’t charge per seat. For what each built in our test, see Lovable vs Bolt. FAQ
How much does Lovable cost per month?
As of Oct 29, 2026, Pro starts at $25 a month for 100 credits billed monthly, or $250 a year ($21 a month) billed annually. Business starts at $50 a month for 100 credits, or $42 a month billed annually. Free is $0, and Enterprise is priced by contract.
Is Lovable free?
Yes. The Free plan gives 5 build credits a day, up to 30 a month, plus monthly grants of 20 Cloud credits and 4 AI credits for hosting and in-app AI. It includes Git sync and workspace-private projects, but it can’t edit or download code or use a custom domain. We didn’t test the Free plan.
What is a Lovable credit worth?
On the 100-credit Pro plan, about $0.25. Lovable’s examples range from 0.50 credits for a small style change to about 2 credits for a landing page with images. In our test, three small apps took 5.5 credits from the balance.
How many credits does it take to build an app?
It depends on the app. On Oct 29, 2026, our client intake portal took 1 credit from the balance plus that day’s 5 free build credits, our invoice tracker 3, and our landing page 1.5. These were small test apps, and none was published.
When do Lovable credits reset?
Daily build credits reset every day at 00:00 UTC and don’t roll over. On Free, the 30-a-month cap resets on the 1st at 00:00 UTC. Paid monthly credits arrive each month and expire 2 months after they’re issued on monthly billing.
Do Lovable credits roll over?
On paid plans, unused monthly credits roll over while you stay subscribed, but each batch expires 2 months after issue on monthly billing. Daily build credits expire each day and don’t roll over.
What’s the difference between Lovable Pro and Business?
Business costs about twice as much per credit tier and adds SSO, role-based access, a security center, a data processing agreement and AI-training opt-out by default. Lovable says hosting and in-app AI cost the same dollar amount on both. We tested Pro only.
Does Lovable have a student discount?
Yes. Verified students and teachers get 50% off Pro with 100 credits, billed monthly, for up to 12 months. You verify with your school email on lovable.dev/students while your workspace is on Free. Annual billing and higher tiers aren’t eligible. We didn’t test it.
What happens when I run out of Lovable credits?
Building stops, AI features in your live apps stop, and apps on Lovable’s built-in backend pause until you add credits. Pro and Business can buy top-ups, which last 12 months.
Is Lovable worth $25 a month for a non-coder?
For a non-coder who wants to keep and download their code or use their own domain, yes: our three test apps used about $1.40 worth of the $25. If you’re only exploring, Free is enough to start. If you want a flat, predictable bill, the credit model may frustrate you once an app is live.
